Purpose
ReelForge is an independent workshop of free, browser-based calculators and analyzers built for short-form video creators working on YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram Reels, and adjacent platforms.
Each tool is designed to do one specific job — score a hook, normalize loudness, predict a click — and do it with enough sub-axis detail that the result is actionable rather than decorative.
The site is built and maintained by a small editorial team that has worked in creator tooling and short-form production since 2019. We are not affiliated with any platform.
Why these tools, and why this design
Most "creator tools" we found while researching this site shared three problems:
- They produced a single number with no breakdown.
- They embedded ads inside tool inputs, which made results unreliable.
- They were identical templates dressed up with different branding.
We designed ReelForge around three counter-principles:
- Multi-axis breakdown. Every score splits into 4–6 sub-metrics so you know what to fix.
- Ad placement outside the work. Ads appear in sidebars and below sections — never inside inputs, never as popups, never disguised as buttons.
- Original math. Each tool's algorithm is documented on the tool page under "How this is scored".
Who it's for
- Independent creators publishing 1–10 short videos per week.
- Small studios managing multiple creator accounts and looking for a shared quality bar.
- Marketing teams running short-form as part of a larger content mix.
- Educators and coaches teaching the craft and needing benchmark language.
- Creators in the early analytics phase who don't yet have reliable first-party data.
Who it's NOT for
- Anyone looking for guaranteed virality or "algorithm hacks".
- Anyone needing AI script writing, voice generation, or thumbnail generation. We don't do those, deliberately.
- Anyone whose primary metric is "I want a tool that connects to my channel and optimizes for me". ReelForge is offline-by-design.
- Anyone looking for stock footage, music licensing, or B-roll sourcing. We point to those services but don't resell them.
Limitations
Every tool on this site is a heuristic. They reflect publicly documented creator-economy research and platform-published best practices as of the dates on each page. They do not know your specific audience, your niche's seasonality, or your particular camera and audio gear.
Scores should be treated as a second opinion, not a verdict. If our hook score says 82 and your gut says the line is flat, trust the gut. The tools exist to surface patterns, not to replace judgment.
Where we are confident in a number (LUFS targets, safe-zone percentages, bitrate minimums for codec X at resolution Y), the math is precise. Where we are estimating (revenue, retention curves, niche saturation), we mark the output as an estimate and tell you which assumptions went into it.
Where the benchmarks come from
Every benchmark on this site is sourced from one of:
- Platform-published creator playbooks (YouTube Help, TikTok Newsroom, Instagram Help Center).
- Public creator-economy reports (Tubular Labs, Hootsuite Digital Report, Influencer Marketing Hub, Socialinsider).
- Aggregated medians from public creator case studies and published retrospectives.
- Codec and broadcast engineering references (ITU-R BS.1770 for LUFS, ISO/IEC for codecs).
Each tool page lists the specific sources it references. If you find a benchmark that has shifted, please let us know — we update on a quarterly review cycle.
Editorial standards
All tool descriptions, FAQ entries, and explanatory text on this site are written by humans. We do not auto-generate content. We do not paraphrase other creator-tool sites.
Each tool passes three checks before publishing:
- Originality. Does it do something at least one of the three most-visited alternatives doesn't?
- Actionability. Does the output tell the user what to do next?
- Honesty. Does the page say what the tool can't do, and what assumptions went into the math?
Tools that fail any check are either rewritten or removed.

How ReelForge is funded
ReelForge is supported by unobtrusive on-page advertising and a small number of affiliate links to creator tools we use ourselves. Ads never appear inside tool inputs, never as overlays, and never disguise themselves as buttons. Affiliate links are marked with a small disclosure label on the tool page where they appear.
